PSCPC History

The Philippine Society of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy was founded on January 27, 1995 by Dr. Angeles Padilla-Cruz in Manila, Philippines.  Its founding members consisted of gynecologic oncologists,  various senior colleagues, including Chairs of OB-GYN Departments, academicians, clinicians, pathologists, practicing colposcopists, ultrasonologists,  and many general OB-GYN practitioners.  Dr. Padilla-Cruz’ extensive international connections promptly facilitated the Society’s affiliation with the International Federation of Colposcopy & Cervical Pathology (IFCPC) .The PSCPC’s  primary objective is to improve health care in the detection and management of lower genital tract disease.  This is accomplished by continuing medical education, standardization of terminology and evaluation of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, promoting  research and maintaining  good standing as a member of the International Federation of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy.  At present, the society has 145 active members , mostly gynecologic oncologists and 45 general obstetrician-gynecologists and pathologists.  The Board of Directors consists of the President, Vice-President, Immediate Past President, Secretary, Treasurer, Press Relations Officer and five members.  A Philippine Board of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy prepares the written and practical examination for the applicants. The organization’s  primary activities involve continuing medical education for the members, the general Obstetrician-Gynecologist on colposcopy and cervical pathology .  This is by giving postgraduate courses  to develop diagnostic and therapeutic skills.  It collaborates with other organizations to promote knowledge on lower genital tract disease.
